In Italy GIG imported Diaclone and Microman toys from Japan and sold them under the name Trasformer. The Trasformer line included practically all of the Microman Microchange toys, the Diaclone Car Robos, at least some of the Dinosaur Robos and the Change Attackers. The packages were copied from the original toys, with the text translated into italian. The toys weren't simply Diaclones or Microman toys stuck in Trasformer packages though, but they were more hanging in between pre-Transformer and Transformers. For instance, at least most of the toys have a copyright mark which includes the date like on Transformers, unlike the Japanese versions which just say "Takara Japan" and nothing else. Further, most of the Car Robos only came in the Transformer color, even if this color wasn't used for the Diaclone versions. The only exceptions are Ironhide and I believe Tracks. The Trasformer version of Powered Convoy (Ultra Magnus) was also just like the Diaclone, except that the cab is red, instead of blue. The Dinosaur Robos of which at least the Triceratops (Slag) and the Stegosaurus (Snarl) were released as Trasformers, came in both the Diaclone and the Transformer colors. The Trasformer version of Skids, came with the scooter, like the Diaclone version, but strangely enough came with Autobot labels on the sheet. The Gun Robos, including the MC13 (Megatron) came with all the accessories that the Microman versions came with, even the Acroyear targets. The only difference is that the tips of the barrels were painted red. Another difference, which is unique to the Trasformer line is that the missiles have been replaced by strange padded missiles, most likely because of safety reasons. Lastly, the Trasformer version of Mirage had Ligier on the labels, instead of Citanes, which is unique to the Trasformer version.

Besides pre-Transformers, the Trasformer line also included some non Takara toys, such as the 357 Magnum Robo. It's somewhat similar to the Microman Gun Robos and changes into a realistic looking revolver with a scope attached to it. As robot it doesn't look very good IMO (See Ron Pringle's page for pictures).

Before GIG started the Trasformer line, the company also sold several Diaclones under the original Diaclone brand. These included the older Diaclones, like Warudaros, Diabattles, Diatrain, Cosmo Roller and even Fortress Robot X.
